South Korea’s SPOEX returns with over 1,600 exhibition booths

Opening today in the South Korean capital, the Seoul International Sports & Leisure Industry Exhibition (SPOEX) represents the first time that one of Asia’s largest fitness, lifestyle and sport exhibitions since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Featuring over 1,600 booths with participation from more than 350 domestic and international sports companies, organisers advise that this marks a significant expansion from last year’s virtual event, with highlights including premier exhibits on health, fitness and the latest sports gear.

Described as one of Asia’s “top three sport and leisure exhibitions”, since its launch in 2001 SPOEX has evolved into the Korea’s premier sports industry exhibition.

Being held at Seoul’s COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre, SPOEX 2024 runs from today (Thursday 22nd February) until Sunday.

This marks a significant expansion from last year’s virtual event with highlights including premier exhibits on health, fitness, and the latest sports gear and with special pavilions dedicated to supporting the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics and reflecting the growing interest in the leisure industry, including a distinct ‘Bicycle and Leisure Pavilion’.

It will also include a sports policy forum on ‘Reflections and Recommendations for the Rejuvenation of K-Sports’ on 22nd February.

LEE Jung-woo, Director-General of the Sports Bureau at Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) expressed hopes for the SPOEX 2024 to expand opportunities for domestic sports companies’ international outreach and to boost recognition for companies with superior technology and products, commenting “the MCST is committed to broadening the range of support measures for the sports industry, aimed at strengthening export initiatives and global competitiveness.”

SPOEX 2024 is sponsored by Korea’s MCST and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, co-hosted by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation and the Korea International Trade Association.

The opening ceremony will commence at 9:30 am today.
