Skyrail launches new open air gondola experience

The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Far North Queensland has launched the Canopy Glider, a new open air gondola experience that enhances the spectacular tropical rainforest adventure.

The addition enables Skyrail customers to take in the spectacular Barron Gorge National Park from a unique perspective, with uninterrupted 360 degree panoramic views.

Introducing the new premium experience attraction, Skyrail Managing Director Craig Pocock explains "(the) Canopy Glider ... is totally different from any other Skyrail experience, more adventurous and a fantastic way to learn about the environment.”

Accompanied by a Skyrail Ranger and with a maximum of four guests, the Canopy Glider combines a thrilling rainforest adventure with personalised interpretation of the plants, animals and history.

Pocock adds “the Canopy Glider experience really gives guests the opportunity to find out so much more about this amazing region in a unique, exciting way.

"The open air gondola has been used by Skyrail for many years for filming purposes but this is the first time it will be available to the general public" said Mr Pocock. "It is great to be able to showcase our wonderful 'back yard' in this way and give our visitors a new option for their Skyrail experience."

Skyrail was a runner up in the Environment Award category at the recent global Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, presented during the 2014 World Travel & Tourism Council World Congress.
