Cairns tourism technology on show to Australia

Technology designed in Cairns to streamline the management and distribution of tourism marketing collateral will be showcased at Australia's largest tourism industry conference this week.

Narnoo Director and product developer James Wells has been invited by the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) to talk about his innovative central media platform at the national ATEC Symposium 2013 being held in Adelaide from 4th to 7th June.

Wells explained "ATEC is keen to promote this product to the industry so has asked me to deliver a master class on how the tourism industry can save time and effort by using a centralised online media management system to manage marketing collateral.

"Tourism Tropical North Queensland is the perfect case study for the master class as this regional tourism organisation has used the Narnoo Product Media Connect program to integrate the media of their membership directly into TTNQ's website.

"This gives the organisation fast access to their members' media so they can build promotional applications which allow them to quickly highlight products within the region in a consistent and efficient manner.

"TTNQ can create a list of their operators through Narnoo and 'follow' their media, so whenever a member makes changes to their product descriptions, images, videos or brochures on Narnoo, the changes will be reflected on TTNQ's website.

"This automatic process means media updates are immediate instead of being dependent on a member advising TTNQ of changes and then TTNQ having to make them."

Wells added that TTNQ also was utilising Narnoo's network of live streaming cameras at locations on the Great Barrier Reef, Wet Tropics rainforest and on the beach to promote the destination.

He concluded "the cameras stream live video of iconic locations through TTNQ's consumer website creating an engaging media item that extends website visitor durations and increases site traffic.

"They have been enormously successful in driving website use with the majority of cameras getting upwards of 5,000 views per month and Skyrail's Barron River Falls camera generating up to 15,000 views per month."
