Singapore's first Olympic-size ice rink to open in April

A new skating experience is set to be offered at The Rink, Singapore's first Olympic-size ice rink, located in the new JCube shopping mall in Jurong East.

The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) has awarded the rink management contract to CapitaMalls Asia's wholly-owned subsidiary, CapitaLand Retail Management Pte Ltd. Under the management agreement, CapitaLand Retail Management will manage the day-to-day operations of The Rink.

Set to open on 2nd April 2012 at the heart of JCube on Level 3, the ice rink measures 60 metres by 30 metres. The Rink will be able to host activities such as recreational skating, figure skating, speed skating and ice hockey. With its 460-seat gallery, mall-goers can get up close to the excitement of the rink activities. They will also be able to enjoy the only rink-side dining experience in Singapore.

CapitaMalls Asia Chief Executive Lim Beng Chee explains "CapitaMalls Asia is pleased to have been awarded the contract to manage the ice rink at JCube.

"An entertainment-focused mall with extended hours, JCube and its ice rink will combine both retail therapy and ice sports. "Shoppers can also exercise and get fit in the cool comfort of the rink. With its extended-hours dining options, JCube will become the meeting place for anyone with an interest in ice sports and a late-night hangout for people in the western part of Singapore. We will continue to work closely with the Singapore Sports Council to bring exciting events and activities to the rink and make ice sports easily accessible to all."

Nestled in the heart of the expanding Jurong Lake District, JCube is an ultra modern mall offering Singapore's only Olympic-size ice rink and IMAX cinema in Singapore's suburbs. The mall boasts a unique faceted facade inspired by an ice cube, reflecting natural light by day and sparkling by night. JCube has been awarded the Building and Construction Authority's highest green accolade 'Green Mark Platinum' for its environmentally friendly features.

Located close to Jurong East MRT interchange and bus interchange, JCube, which replaces the former Jurong Entertainment Centre, has five levels of retail, dining and entertainment options. There are two levels of basement parking and a rooftop terrace-cum-event space on Level 5, called JStage. With its new-to-market brands and extended dining options, JCube is set to be the preferred leisure and entertainment destination for youth, PMEBs and residents who live and work in Singapore's West.

CapitaMalls Asia Limited is one of the largest listed shopping mall developers, owners and managers in Asia by total property value of assets and geographic reach.
