Singapore Sports Hub develops education and work-based partnership
The Singapore Sports Hub and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see the venue provide practical working experience and hands-on learning opportunities to all ITE students.
The partnership is the first of its kind to provide students with training and industry experience to develop competencies in sports and recreation management through a series of internship opportunities at the Sports Hub.
This is aligned with SkillsFuture, as the close partnership will give students work experience and mentorship to enhance mastery of skills to prepare them for their careers.
As part of the three-year agreement, the Singapore Sports Hub will work closely with ITE to identify and provide opportunities in event management, sports and recreation management, customer service, business, hospitality operations for ITE staff and students to participate in.
The MOU was recently signed by Philippe Collin-Delavaud, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Sports Hub, and Bruce Poh, Director and Chief Executive Officer of ITE, and witnessed by Lawrence Wong, Singapore's Minister for Culture, Community and Youth.
Commenting on the partnership, Collin-Delavaud stated "we feel privileged to be forging this new partnership with ITE today.
"As a principal provider of career and technical education in Singapore, they are best placed to help us nurture talent for the local sports and recreation scene.
"We are excited to be welcoming ITE students to our campus to kick start their future career in this field, by providing them with on-the-job opportunities to learn from our very experienced teams which have worked on major events around the world, including the Youth Olympic Games, Formula One, National Day Parade, Women's Tennis Association and London 2012 Olympic."
As part of the program, the Singapore Sports Hub will be sponsoring bursary awards to students' at all three ITE Colleges, and will have management staff to guest lecture at ITE.
