Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort reopens following $43 million upgrade

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort, one of Australia’s most renowned hotel properties, has reopened following an extensive revitalisation of all of its 294 guest rooms and public spaces.

The renovation, with a modern Tropical North Queensland inspired design, is par of the Sheraton brand’s ‘Sheraton 2020’ initiative, a 10-point plan that the brand hopes will help it achieve global recognition.

Comprising of all guest rooms, suites and public areas, the all-encompassing refresh also features the Sheraton brand’s debut of SPG Keyless in Asia Pacific, the industry’s first truly mobile and keyless entry system that allows Starwood Preferred Guest members to use their smartphone as a key to their rooms through the SPG® app.

Located right on Four Mile Beach with direct beach access, the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas features a modern, crisp and stylish design, with all 294 of its reimagined guest rooms in the embodying coastal living and the relaxed paradise of Port Douglas.

As part of the multi-million dollar refurbishment, the resort is also introducing 41 Lagoon Edge Rooms and 12 Lagoon Edge Studio Suites on the ground floor with private balconies offering guests exquisite views of and direct access to the resort’s saltwater lagoon swimming pools.

Beyond the guest rooms, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas also features a reinvigorated lobby experience, with a revamped porte cochére and main entrance, featuring natural tones and pockets of tropical gardens.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of enhanced dining options, from the Lobby Café which offers a fresh menu of barista coffee, light meals and snacks, to the debut of the Sheraton brand’s signature restaurant, Feast, featuring an interactive buffet and alfresco poolside dining experience on the outdoor deck with expanded seating to accommodate additional guests. Additionally, the remodelled Daintree Bar & Lounge will offer the Sheraton brand’s Paired menu, a selection of small plates expertly matched with premium wines and craft beers that marries globally inspired cuisine with local culture for a unique and unexpected dining experience.

The resort’s new design and facilities redefine poolside relaxation with the introduction of 26 cabanas in prime locations surrounding the two hectares of lagoon pools. The spacious and private daybeds offer VIP service, with bar staff delivering refreshing beverages and food, ranging from classic cocktails to bar snacks directly to the cabana.

Commenting on the Resort’s revitalisation, Vincent Ong, Senior Director, Brand Management, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific stated “from the Tropical North Queensland inspired color palette, to the local-inspired dining choices, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the destination from the second they step foot on property.”
