Shaun Mielekamp takes on General Manager role at NRL’s Wests Tigers

NRL club Wests Tigers has announced the appointment of former Central Coast Mariners Chief Executive Shaun Mielekamp as General Manager of Community, Foundation and Affiliates.

Leaving the Mariners after nine years, Mielekamp has previously worked in the NRL at both Penrith Panthers and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Advising that the appointment is strategically very important for the club,

Wests Chief Executive, Shane Richardson stated “we are in the final stages of preparing a new strategy document for the club which includes a sizeable uplift in community engagement, and Shaun will be driving that.”

Richardson went on to note that Mielekamp brings a wealth of knowledge in building and developing community programs within the sports market and that the club is delighted to have him on board.

Excited to be returning to rugby league and eager to make a positive impact, Mielekamp added “I’m extremely excited to be joining Wests Tigers and I look forward to making a real difference to the club and our community.

“I've always been passionate about how sporting clubs can be a catalyst for positive change and social impact, and this is a mission that is very close to my heart.

Wests Tigers play their first home game of the NRL season this Saturday against Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Leichhardt Oval.

In other sport management moves, Football Australia has promoted Peter Filopoulos to the new role of Chief Officer for Corporate Affairs, Brand and Communications.
