SGL expands with Queensland appointments

Following their recent announcement that Larry Sengstock has returned to SGL, the consultancy has made two new senior appointments in Queensland with Mark Upson and David Green joining the SGL team.
SGL Joint Managing Director Phillip Gray, said the company was extremely pleased to have secured both Mark and David to reinforce SGL's commitment to the expanding Queensland market which is continually challenged with the need for new or redeveloped facilities to meet the needs of growing communities across the state.

Mark Upson arrives at SGL with an extensive track record of consulting assignments in Queensland and New South Wales, and having been responsible for commissioning and operating some of those state's most contemporary sport and aquatic facilities.

Based in Queensland since 1998, Upson is a highly regarded sports planner who specialises in sport and leisure facility feasibility research and venue management.

Building upon these strengths, Mark will also work as a specialist Brisbane-based 'facilities consultant' to develop SGL's new Sports Facilities, Management and Events business.

Mark brings to SGL highly developed leisure planning, marketing and senior management skills having worked in both local and state government agencies since 1975. He also has a strong background in staff training, marketing and customer services planning within the leisure industry.

David Green has worked for more than fifteen years in the public sector at both State and Federal level, with experience across a broad range of industry sectors including sport and recreation, investment attraction and tourism. His experience includes feasibility studies, facility planning and management, business planning, financial analysis, contract management and procurement management.

While with the Federal Government, David was involved in tourism policy development, management of funding to support staging the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games and management of the Regional Tourism Program.

David also has a personal interest in the development and sustainable growth of community accessible sport and leisure facilities.
