SEC achieves sustainability recognition

The Sydney Entertainment Centre (SEC) has received recognition as a 'Bronze Partner' under the NSW Department of Environment and Heritage (DEH)'s Sustainability Advantage Program.

To achieve the Bronze Partnership, the SEC had to demonstrate leadership and commitment to sustainability, and establish planning and management systems for environmental practice and continuous improvement. The SEC commenced this journey two years ago as part of a commitment to improving its sustainability performance whilst reducing the venues carbon foot print.

SEC General Manager Steve Romer commented "the SEC is proud that in just over two years, we have been recognised by the NSW Government as a Sustainability Advantage Program Bronze Partner.

"We have liaised closely with venue staff, contractors, promoters and clients to ensure the SEC's environmental targets and initiatives are at the forefront of our thinking and planning processes."

Matthew Lazarus-Hall, Chief Executive of Chugg Entertainment, a major hirer of the SEC, added "as an environmentally aware organisation, Chugg Entertainment welcomes green initiatives and environmental practices at all venues.

"Many of today's live music artists and audience have an expectation that major venues embrace environmentally friendly live performances."

Chugg Entertainment is touring many major artists through the SEC over coming months including Kelly Clarkson, Radiohead, Elton John, Gotye, and Weezer.
