Seal paradise opens at Sea World

Prior to the weekend's severe weather, Gold Coast theme park Sea World opened 'Seal Harbour', its much anticipated new marine animal exhibit.

The multimillion dollar attration, home to New Zealand Fur Seals, Californian Sea Lions and Sub-Antarctic Fur Seals is expected to be a huge hit with Sea World guests, with Sea World Animal Care Supervisor Tacha Mulligan explaining "Seals and Sea Lions are amazing fun to watch; They are very playful and interactive and they are just so graceful in the water.

"Seal Harbour is a spectacular home for seals, featuring natural sandy bottomed lagoons with crystal clear waters, glass petitions and specially designed boardwalks just above the water's surface, so guests can watch the seals splash, play and sunbathe all day long.

"This new home for seals also features a special area where mother seals can live with their gorgeous new born pups, so guests can watch them grow and develop each time they visit Sea World."

Sea World is also hinting at new attraction that will open in 2013, beleived to be a Mack Rides water coaster.

However, due to severe weather the park's Facebook page advises "Sea World is closed today (Monday 28th January) due to the strong wind in the area. We expect to be operating as usual tomorrow."
