SCEC managers take up events industry roles

Two of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre's managers have been appointed to industry bodies in a move which reflects the venue's ongoing commitment to the business events sector.
Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) Director of Operations, Stephen Wood has taken on the role of Chair of the Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) NSW Branch Committee, while Business Development Manager, Toni McAllister has joined the board of the International Special Events Society's Sydney Chapter.
Commenting on the appointments, Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said Wood and McAllister were valued members of the Centre's team, who had many years of experience in business events.
Welcoming the appointments, van Amerongen stated "the Centre prides itself on the contribution it makes to the broader industry so I'm delighted that Stephen and Toni have taken on these additional roles which will help build our sector."
Stephen Wood joined the Centre in February 2000 in the catering and event services division and was made Director of Operations in 2011. He has served as Vice Chair and Treasurer on the MEA NSW Branch Committee since 2010.
Toni McAllister has worked at the Centre for more than 12 years and has a strong background in events. She became the Business Development Manager for the Centre's Technical Production and Design team in 2008.
