Royal visit generates interest in the Red Centre
Luxury desert retreat Longitude 131° has reported a massive spike in web traffic since Tuesday’s arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their current Australian tour.
Lodge operator Baillie Lodges said hits on the Longitude 131° website had been recorded at up to 250 per second during the Royal visit, at times challenging the server’s capacity.
Baillie Lodges Managing Director James Baillie said there had been a clear increase in interest in Longitude 131°, including online, via social media and in direct calls to the reservations team.
Baillie explained “it was an absolute honour to host the Royal couple at Longitude 131° and we’re very glad they were able to experience the spiritual heart of Australia during their tour.
“Uluru is a truly remarkable place with a deep significance to the Anangu people and a special place in the hearts of all Australians.
“It has been a privilege to help share that with the Duke and Duchess and we’re delighted they chose Longitude 131° for their stay.”
Over coming months, Baillie hopes that the Royal visit will translate into greater bookings and increased interest in tourism in the Central Australia.
