Royal Pines Resort development to include recreational facility

The Queensland Government has approved changes to the Royal Pines Resort’s development scheme to allow a recreational facility, child care centre, food and drink outlets, and commercial services in the future.

Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the changes to the Royal Pines Resort Approved Scheme, under the Integrated Resort Development Act 1987, would allow a proposal for new uses within the Marina precinct of the resort.

“These proposed uses reflect the changing needs of the resort and its residents and will allow commercial uses for the area that are not significantly different to existing uses,” Minister Dick said.

“When the Act was written in the 1980s, the existing planning, titling and body corporate management legislation could not facilitate a large-scale mixed-use resort development like Royal Pines Resort,” Minister Dick said.

“The proposal for this change came from Royal Pines Body Corporate management, who consulted with each of the resident bodies corporate, on the proposed changes, with 100% in agreement. By approving of these amendments, we have changed the future of Royal Pines Resort for the better.”

Minister Dick said the proposed developments still need to be in accordance with development control by-laws for the Resort which are overseen by the resort’s body corporate.

“By responding to the changing needs of the Royal Pines residents, we aim to create stronger, safer, healthier and well-connected communities now and for future generations of Queenslanders.”
