Royal Australian Mint revs up for Summernats visitors

The Royal Australian Mint is getting ready to welcome visitors from Australia's biggest motoring festival, Summernats, with a new exhibition that celebrates the power behind the production of the 2013 'Fifty Years of the Bathurst Endurance Race' 50c Coin.

'Revheads and Tails - Making the Bathurst Coin' tells the story behind the production of the coin and the staff that helped bring it to life, and includes some much-loved motor sport collectibles from the Mint's very own revheads.

Royal Australian Mint Chief Executive Ross MacDiarmid explains "this exhibition is a coming together of the passion of our staff for both creating internationally renowned coins and collecting.

"Over 85 000 people travel to Canberra at the beginning of January each year to admire Australia's toughest elite street machines, and this exhibition is sure to appeal.

"While the coin celebrates 50 years of Bathurst, the exhibition also focuses on members of our own team's passion for cars. We are proud to be able to support the motor celebrations right here in our backyard."

'Revheads and Tails - Making the Bathurst Coin' is open now at the Royal Australian Mint, and will remain until Sunday 3rd March 2013.
