RFID Bracelet Links to Facebook Appraisals
An RFID bracelet that enables amusement park users to link their activities to the virtual world of Facebook has been trialled at an Israeli attraction.
Summer visitors to the Coca-Cola Village Amusement Park in Israel, were each issued with an RFID bracelet that enabled to them bring what they were doing in the real world and post it in the virtual world of Facebook.
The RFID (radio frequency identification) tags inside each of the bracelets were programmed with the individualâs Facebook details, which allowed them to swipe the bracelet at designated readers to post a thumbs up, or âlikeâ, for that activity on their online profile. The bracelet also allowed visitors to upload photos to their Facebook account with their faces automatically tagged.
The Coca-Cola Village Amusement Park, a three-day temporary amusement park, hosted 650 teenagers who made over 35,000 posts using the RFID system.
Marketing agency Publicis E-dologic established the concept to link real-world activities to Facebook's new âPlacesâ feature.
The venture has created the potential for attractions, facilities and venues to use Facebook readers where visitors swipe RFID devices to let their follower know what they are doing, and whether they like it!
