Refreshed Tomaree pool set re-open under YMCA management
Port Stephens outdoor aquatic facility is set to reopen this Friday (15th October) having undergone refurbishment and now operating under YMCA management.
During the winter work has been carried out to bring the facility into an improved condition ready for the summer visitors.
Newly appointed Centre Manager Suellen Goyne, previously the manager of Next Generation Ryde, explains "it's been a very busy time with lots to do to get ready for guests but weâre excited to be inducting staff into the YMCA and the centre is looking in order now.
"We've had disabled access ramps built into the main pool, and the pebble crete ramp at the end of the pool has been replaced with steps and tiled.
"The heat pumps have been replaced; the solar heating revamped and we've got a brand new kitchen area and a sparkling new coffee machine!"
Goyne, who was with Next Generation for nine years added "it's been a wonderful opportunity for me to manage this centre as a local and we've retained all the staff from the previous operator.
"The council have been so supportive of the community work that the charity provides the area.
"The Tomaree pool is a great addition to the YMCA managed pools here in Port Stephens, of which there are now three."
