Records broken at new format Sydney Fitness Show
The recent Fitness Show NSW attracted thousands of visitors to ‘The Dome’ at Sydney Olympic Park to explore the top fitness brands, meet fitness celebrities and watch live sporting events.
Due to the redevelopment of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre (SCEC), the Australian Fitness & Health Expo moved to Melbourne and a localised NSW version was held at Sydney's former Olympic venue.
Over two days (Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October), thousands of visitors passed through the doors of The Dome to visit over 120 exhibitors and witness the excitement of live sporting events including the Sydney Powerlifting Championships and an international invitational event facilitated by Powerlifting Australia, MMA demonstrations, a natural bodybuilding competition hosted by INBA and the search for Sydney’s Fittest Bloke and Fittest Chick.
A number of records were officially broken during the live powerlifting invitational event, including Jeza Upea (from Nauru) setting the World Record in his class with a 413 kg Squat and Krzyztof Wierzbicki (from Poland) setting the World Record in his class with a Deadlift of 340.5kg.
Other highlights included appearances by international fitness gurus including Charles Poliquin, the world’s most accomplished strength coach and one of the most successful weightlifters of all time, silver medalist Dmitry Klokov from Moscow, who both shared their training insights with visitors during the two days thanks to Clean Health.
A popular new addition to the Healthy Living stage this year was a series of presentations from mainstream celebrities with an interest and expertise in fitness and health including Rachael Finch, current Miss Universe Australia Tegan Martin, Kris Smith and well-known actor and triathlete Daniel MacPherson.
Fitness Show Director Shaun Krenz of Diversified Communications said the team was very happy with the Show’s first year at Sydney Olympic Park, stating “our partnership with Spring Cycle, with its finish line located just outside The Dome on the Sunday, also proved to be a great alignment, creating a buzz in and around the Show.”

Melbourne – 10th to 12th April, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre
Perth – 12th and 13th September, Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre
