Quiksilver and Roxy back Vegemite SurfGroms for three more years

Lifestyle and surf brands Quiksilver and Roxy are backing the future of Australian surfing by supporting the Vegemite SurfGroms for another three years.

The first national junior participation surfing program available anywhere in the world, Vegemite SurfGroms supported by Quiksilver and Roxy offers youngsters aged five to 12 years old an opportunity to develop strong ocean awareness and beach safety skills at a very influential period in their lives, that they will enjoy and embrace for a lifetime.

Quiksilver and Roxy have confirmed their position as a major support partner for a further three years and will offer a fantastic Quiksilver or Roxy pack to every participant that registers for the program. Hugely popular with the kids, the Quiksilver and Roxy packs include a backpack, rash vest and hat.

The Quiksilver and Roxy partnership is critical as it links the program to a core surf brand that is internationally recognised and boasts some of the most recognised ambassadors in the world including Steph Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons.

Quiksilver Marketing Manager Troy Brooks explains “Quiksilver and Roxy are brands born and bred from the ocean (and) the Vegemite SurfGroms program gives so many kids the opportunity to catch their first wave and enjoy what we do every day.

“The program not only awakens the spirit of surfing but also teaches a valuable life lesson of ocean safety in a fun way. We’re looking forward to another three years of mini frothers everywhere.”

Since its launch in October 2011, more than 25,000 Australian children have experienced the thrill of surfing for the first time through Vegemite SurfGroms. It is delivered through the Surfing Australia Surf Schools Network with more than 80 delivery centres around the country.

Surfing Australia Chief Executive Andrew Stark added “we are extremely excited to announce Quiksilver and Roxy are continuing their partnership with our Vegemite SurfGroms program for a further three years.

“We genuinely appreciate the support and enjoy our working relationship with Quiksilver and Roxy.

“Quiksilver and Roxy are extremely well aligned partners to Vegemite SurfGroms as globally recognised surf brands. The Quiksilver and Roxy packs distributed to every participant is a critical component of the success of the program. We look forward to our continued relationship with them and value their important role in this national junior development program.”

Vegemite SurfGroms is supported by Vegemite, Quiksilver, Roxy, Wahu, Nikon, Surfing Australia, the Australian Sports Commission and Channel 9.

Parents can register their children for the program at www.surfgroms.com.
