QRL's Rohan Sawyer to move to lead Bastion Experience's Queensland expansion
Experienced sports administrator Rohan Sawyer has resigned as Chief Executive of Queensland Rugby League (QRL) to become Managing Director of the Bastion Experience agency in Queensland.
Sawyer joined the QRL in 2018 relocating from Sydney to become its Chief Operating Officer before, in late 2021, being appointed to replace Robert Moore as Chief Executive - Moore standing down after 15 years with the sports body.
Sawyer will leave his QRL role at the end of March and Robert Moore will return as an interim CEO while the board conducts an external recruitment process.
Bastion Chief Executive, Jack Watts, said his agency had long held ambitions to establish an office in Queensland.
Sawyer’s appointment follows the recent acquisition of Queensland public relations and social media firm, Promedia, which now operates as Bastion Amplify.
Watts said Sawyer (pictured) would lead the business’s commercial, sponsorship and experiential side in Queensland.
