Qatar to host 2015 Handball World Championships

Qatar has further enhanced its sports event portfolio after being awarded the men's 2015 World Handball Championships.
The decision was announced last week by the International Handball Federation (IHF) Council in Malmo, with Sweden currently hosting the 2011 Championships.
As the only non-European bidder for the event, Qatar held off strong competition from France, Norway and Poland to land the Championships.
IHF President Hassan Moustafa explained "all four presentations were very good, it was a very close decision between four top handball nations."
Denmark was awarded the women's 2015 World Championships after Korea had withdrawn its bid. The upcoming World Championships will take place in Brazil (women 2011), Spain (men 2013) and Serbia (women 2013).
