Product recall of Zoggs Fogbuster and Lens Cleaner

Australasian Leisure Management has learned that the swimming products manufacturer Zoggs has issued a product recall for its Fogbuster and Lens Cleaner.

Advising of a “manufacturing defect” that “may cause irritation and a burning sensation of the eye(s)”, the recall relates to products sold between February 2018 and May 2018 that has a batch number of 105R (see image below) on the rear of the outer packaging.

The anti-fog solution for swimming goggles has been recalled by Zoggs internationally and by Zoggs Australia due to the product containing acetaldehyde and possibly propionaldehyde which will cause irritation to the eyes if not washed from the lenses properly.

Further advice from Zoggs states “consumers with the affected product should return it to the place of purchase for a refund. If you are not aware of the batch number and bought the product during the period of availability, we recommend that you stop using the product immediately.”

While noted on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) website, the advice seems not to have been widely circulated.

Zoggs products, including the Fogbuster and Lens Cleaner, are widely sold in aquatic and recreation centres as well as by retailers including Rebel Sport, Sportspower, Sportsfirst and Swimwear Galore.

Launched in Sydney in 1992, Zoggs is a brand of swimming goggles, training aids, swimwear and other related products. It was the first brand to offer UV protection and split yoke straps as standard features on all goggles.
