Pro-Floor safeguards AAMI Park Turf during AFL Grand Final replay

Pro-Floor EF flooring gave unique protection to AAMI Park's world class playing surface during the hosting of this month's AFL Grand Final re-play Live Site.

Profloor Portable Flooring's popular Pro-Floor® EF (Event Flooring) was laid across 11,150 metres2, along with 600 metres2 of Pro-Zone (heavy duty platform flooring) and 250 metres2 of Pro-Track at AAMI Park for the event.

Pro-Floor® EF proved it could protect the turf from the impact of over 20,000 AFL fans, who gathered to watch the big match, and it also stood up to the post-match celebrations featuring US singer Lionel Richie and thousands of triumphant Collingwood supporters.

There were concerns the Live Site could damage the condition of the turf at AAMI Park, with other stadiums facing similar issues after playing host to major events. However, when Pro-Floor® EF was removed the day after the Live Site celebrations, there was no damage to the turf and no sign there was ever an event there.

AAMI Park Stadium Manager Shane Mates explains "there has been no impact on the turf from laying the portable flooring.

"The product is easy to install and remove. We were very happy with the end result."

Pro-Floor Portable Flooring Managing Director Paul Blackie, said over 30 staff were mustered at short notice to lay more than seven semi-trailer loads of Pro-Floor® EF flooring on the eve of the Grand Final replay and it was removed the following morning to widespread acclaim.

As Blackie says "the staff at AAMI Park were absolutely rapt, the ground was covered for a short amount of time and Pro-Floor® EF protected the grass, proving it could work under extremely tough conditions.

"It was tremendous for Profloor Portable Flooring to be able to protect the AAMI Park surface and play such a major part in ensuring the biggest day on the AFL calendar was a great success."

AFL Media Manager Patrick Keane said to have the live site at AAMI Park function so well made the Grand Final experience a much bigger event again, stating "to have more than 20,000 fans in close proximity to the MCG, and the opportunity to have the premiership team presented to their supporters with ease in the immediate aftermath of the game, provided an added experience for thousands of supporters who could not attend our biggest match of the year."

Pro-Floor® EF has been used at other major events including the Sydney and Beijing Olympics.

The success of Pro-Floor® EF at AAMI Park comes as Profloor Portable Flooring celebrates another milestone with the launch of its innovative new translucent flooring - Pro-Floor® GP (Grass Protection).
