Port Adelaide will 'not survive' without move to redeveloped Adelaide Oval

South Australian AFL writher Michelangelo Rucci has told Fox Sports News that he believes the Port Adelaide Football Club will not survive unless its proposed move to Adelaide Oval is given the green light on Monday.

Rucci, chief AFL writer for Adelaide newspaper The Advertiser, told Fox Sports News that if South Australian Cricket Association members vote against the move it would be the death nell for the Power as an AFL identity.

Rucci explained "Adelaide will survive at AAMI Stadium...(but) Port Adelaide, we know, can't survive at AAMI Stadium.

"They're making massive losses. They've put all their eggs in the Adelaide Oval basket - they don't have a plan B.

"If they don't become competitive on the field because they can't finance their team, I'm beginning to think Adelaide becomes a one-team town again."

The redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval will only go ahead of 75% of South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) members vote in favour of the proposal on Monday night.

Rucci, described by Fox Sports News as a "leading footy writer" appears to be part of a body of opinion that believes SACA members will reject the development and the prospect of relinquishing control of the venue to a stadium management group.

Rucci has been a consistent backer of the Adelaide Oval redevelopment in his writings for The Advertiser.
