PlayOn WA highlights sport facility upgrades across Western Australia

The Western Australian Government is continuing its investment in sport and recreation infrastructure, with $2,863,524 million in funding to local groups throughout the state to support healthier, more connected communities.

As part of the recently announced PlayOn WA initiative, 32 Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) and Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) grants have been awarded to projects spanning metropolitan and regional areas including Broome Motocross Club, Mount Magnet recreation precinct and the Kulin Tennis Club.

Funding will go towards renovations to change rooms and playing facilities and the upgrade or installation of venue lighting.

A new initiative to guide investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across Western Australia, PlayOn WA will deliver 2,030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items by the year 2030, helping to deliver a lasting and positive impact in many communities.

In this latest small grants round, 20 projects received CSRFF funding while 12 received funding through the CNLP.

These projects will ensure local clubs and community organisations across Western Australia can provide safer, more inclusive, and accessible facilities for players, officials and spectators alike.

The recipients of the CSRFF small grants round are:

Perth metro
Yanchep Sports & Social Club - $167,571 for the conversion of a grass bowling green to a synthetic rink;
City of Joondalup - $53,250 for the upgrade of two cricket practice nets, and construction of two additional nets at Chichester Park;
North Perth Tennis Club - $9,983 for upgrades to accessibility and women's amenities;
City of Belmont - $15,676 for the refurbishment of the changerooms and amenities at Miles Park;
City of Belmont - $14,853 for the refurbishment of the change rooms and amenities at Centenary Park;
Shire of Mundaring - $86,950 for the construction of the Morgan John Morgan Pump Track;
Scarborough Sports & Community Club - $73,462 for upgrades of female change rooms, and the construction of disability and child-changing facilities;
Town of Victoria Park - $156,706 for the conversion to a synthetic surface at the Victoria Park Carlisle Bowling Club; and
Bayswater Bowling and Recreation Club - $200,000 for the reconstruction, expansion and conversion to a synthetic green.

Wheatbelt
Shire of Dalwallinu - $147,467 for upgrades to the Dalwallinu Aquatic Centre 25-metre pool;
Shire of Wyalkatchem - $32,680 for the construction of cricket practice wicket and nets at the Wyalkatchem Recreation Centre; and
Corrigin Golf Club - $11,049 for upgrades to the female change rooms.
South West
Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup - $132,749 for the upgrade change rooms at the Donnybrook Recreation Centre; and
Manjimup Speedway Club - $92,588 for the upgrade of the safety catch fence and general upgrades at the Manjimup Speedway.

Great Southern
Gnowangerup Sporting Complex Management Committee - $9,349 for the refurbishment of two cricket practice nets at the Gnowangerup Sporting Complex; and
Denmark Riverside Club - $82,500 for the resurfacing of a bowling green.

Gascoyne
Gascoyne Gymnastics Club - $80,725 for the refurbishment of amenities.

Goldfields
Wanarn Community Aboriginal Corporation - $149,063 for the resurfacing of the Wanarn Community basketball court.

Kimberley
Broome Junior-Senior Motocross Club - $77,139 for a track extension at the Broome Motocross precinct, including the installation of a dirt kart track and ablution facilities.

Mid West
Shire of Mount Magnet - $33,800 for the construction of two outdoor multipurpose hardcourts at the Mount Magnet recreation precinct.

Perth metro
Cottesloe Junior Football Club - $155,828 for the upgrade of floodlighting at Cottesloe Oval;
City of Wanneroo - $69,512 for the upgrade of floodlighting at Edgar Griffiths Park, Wanneroo;
City of Belmont - $30,639 for the upgrade of floodlighting at Miles Park, Cloverdale;
City of Vincent - $98,482 for the upgrade of floodlighting at Menzies Park, Mount Hawthorn;
City of Swan - $200,000 for the upgrade of floodlighting on 13 netball courts at Dulcie Liddelow Netball Centre; and
City of Joondalup - $106,818 for the upgrade of floodlighting on Pitch One at the Troy Pickard Hockey Centre.

Wheatbelt
Shire of Narembeen - $200,000 for the installation of new lights at the Narembeen Town Oval, Narembeen Recreation Centre;
City of Dalwallinu - $200,000 for the installation of new lights at Dalwallinu Oval; and
Shire of Kulin - $24,825 for the upgrade of floodlighting on four tennis courts at the Kulin Tennis Club.

Goldfields
Esperance Tennis Club - $41,243 for floodlighting conversion to LED.

Great Southern
City of Albany - $34,833 for the upgrade of floodlighting on seven indoor courts at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

Peel
City of Mandurah - $112,674 for the upgrade of floodlighting on two ovals at the Rushton Park North.

The program is administered by the Western Australian Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.
