Plans for $28 million waterpark in Hervey Bay
Plans for a $28 million waterpark with 11 rides and a capacity to host an estimated 300,000 people each year are before Fraser Coast Council.
Tentatively named Splash Bay Waterpark, the development would be situated in the Hervey Bay suburb of Urangan on land formerly occupied by a caravan park. A second vacant block would be designated as parking, principally for buses.
Queensland-based Core Architecture is designing and project managing the development with Core Regional Manager Adam Perrier stating "this development is worth $28 million but with the flow-on tourism benefits, the effect on the real estate sector and employment, it could be worth $170 million."
Perrier told local media that orders had already been placed for the anchor rides named Tornado Water Ride and Tantrum Alley.
