Physiotherapist designed barre workout studio to open in South Melbourne

S3 Barre, the world’s first barre workout concept designed by a physiotherapist, is set to open its second Australian studio in Melbourne next month.

Following the overwhelming popularity of physiotherapist-designed workouts at the first S3 Studio in Yarraville, the new purpose-built, New York style S3 Studio will offer the world’s hottest workout - bringing amazing results of the popular ballet-based class and applying the research-based science of physiotherapy.

S3 Barre is a fun and effective workout, while providing the assurance of expert guidance for those who need to prevent or manage injury.

Designed by Physiotherapist, Joshua Norris-Ongso, the S3 Barre workout is the ideal workout for anyone trying to prevent or manage musculoskeletal issues including those suffering back pain, conditions during pregnancy or after birth and those managing joint and soft tissue injury.

Norris-Ongso explains “my patients are often very hesitant to return to exercise, especially after a long period of pain and injury, but movement can often be the best treatment. It is essential during this period that health and safety are assured with exercise prescribed by a physiotherapist so that they don’t set themselves backwards.”

Many of the exercise sequences in the S3 Barre workout are the same as what would be prescribed by a physiotherapist for ongoing management or injury prevention. But as a choreographed workout with music, the workout is as fun as it is effective.

Simultaneously using the principles of classical ballet and clinical Pilates, the S3 Barre workout is a fun way to stretch, strengthen and stabilise the body, while treating and preventing further injury.

Personal trainer and co-owner of the S3 Studio South Melbourne, Jasmine Turner explains “just because it is fun, don’t think the S3 Barre is a walk in the park – it is as tough as you make it.

“This is a workout where the stronger you get, the harder you work, you will feel the burn – and the results speak for themselves.”

The offering at S3 Studio is not limited to Barre classes, with Mat Pilates, Clinical Pilates, yoga, Personal Training, Fitness Classes and Physiotherapy consultations offered at the new architect-designed studio.

After visiting the best Barre studios all over the globe, Joshua has taken inspiration from the hippest exercise environments to bring that signature brand of New York exercise luxe to Melbourne.

The S3 Studio team think daily exercise is the ultimate time for self-care, and doing so in a mindfully-designed beautiful space makes the experience more enjoyable.

The new studion aims to present one-stop, fun, friendly and inspiring environment where health, wellness and safety take priority.

S3 Studio South Melbourne is located at 124 Bank Street, South Melbourne and opens in June 2016.
