Penrith City Council continues with playground upgrades

Penrith City Council has announced the recent completion of upgrades to four playspaces across its local government area, with more still to come this year.

Playspaces in Ridgeview Crescent Reserve, Erskine Park; Goldmark Crescent Reserve, Cranebrook; Explorers Way Reserve, St Clair; and Glengarry Drive Reserve, Glenmore Park, have been revitalised with new equipment, shade areas, seating, and landscaping.

The upgrades mark a significant milestone as part of Council’s commitment to upgrade 40 playspaces over a five-year period between 2019-2024, with 30 playspaces now renewed across the LGA.

Advising that it is important for children and families to have access to modern and inclusive playspaces close to home, Penrith Mayor, Todd Carney commented “playspaces play a vital role in bringing residents together and supporting the physical and social development of young people, which is why Council has an ongoing program to upgrade these facilities.

“But let’s not forget the most important thing about playspaces - they are a lot of fun!”

Construction is also underway to upgrade playspaces in Illawong Avenue Reserve, Kingswood Park, and Wilson Park, Llandilo, which will be completed by the end of the year.

Playspaces in Jim Anderson Park, Werrington Downs, and Willoring Crescent and Harris Street Reserve, Jamisontown, will be upgraded in early 2024.

The playspaces were identified through Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy which is a 15-year road map for the future provision of sport, play, recreation and open space facilities across the City.
