PATA to present webinar on reducing plastic pollution

Aiming to assist the industry in reducing plastic pollution, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is to stage a webinar on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 entitled 'Five Key Ingredients to Reducing Plastic'.

The webinar will be led by Sarah Rhodes, Founder of Plastic Free Southeast Asia, a social impact business which focusses on stopping plastic pollution at the source and a valued member of the PATA network.

As explained by PATA Director – Membership, Sarudha 'Orn' Netsawang “since the early 1950s, it is estimated that more than 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic have been produced (and that) about 60% of this will either go into a landfill or the natural environment, damaging natural habitats, polluting air and water, and wreaking havoc to the ecosystems of planet earth.*

“Despite this fact, the idea of going plastic-free can seem overwhelming and inconvenient. But it doesn't have to be.”

In line with PATA's 2020 vision 'Partnerships for Tomorrow', the upcoming PATA Spotlight Webinar will provide five simple steps which businesses and locations can use to lay a foundation to reducing plastic and setting up routines that will benefit both the environment and your business well into the future.

From this webinar, the following learnings will be presented:

• Global status update of plastic consumption
• How to get started or scale up plastic reduction efforts
• How to get teams involved
• Steps to be put in action right away

The webinar will go live on Tuesday 3rd December 2019, 10am-10.45am ICT.

Rhodes will be available to answer questions from members of the audience, drawing experience from her training via the Climate Leadership Corps, led by Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, as well as the successful programmes she has developed since 2014 that have resonated with audiences throughout the region and had a profound effect on the participants.
