Partnership launched for South Australian tourism operators West Beach Parks and Discovery Parks
A partnership was launched today, between South Australian tourism operators West Beach Parks and Discovery Parks. ‘Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks’ holiday park started operating under the new brand partnership on the first day of summer, with guest bookings indicating a record-breaking tourism season ahead.
Current bookings at Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks for February 2025 are up 15%t compared to the same time last year. January 2025 bookings are also up.
In January, February and March this year, Adelaide holiday parks recorded an average 85% occupancy rate for cabins and sites – the highest average ever recorded (Caravan Industry Association of Australia).
The partnership between West Beach Parks and Discovery Parks includes branding rights and access to more than 750,000 Australians who book annually through Discovery Parks and G’day Parks.
West Beach Parks will maintain ownership and management of Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks, which was recently crowned South Australia’s best holiday park back-to-back at the South Australian Tourism Awards.
Discovery Parks is a South Australian-based operator of holiday parks and resorts with more than 90 destinations around the nation and is part of the G’day Parks network of more than 330 holiday parks.
SA Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison noted “The Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks brand partnership is perfectly timed to leverage the non-stop major events held in Adelaide over summer, which we know helped contribute to the record numbers seen earlier this year.
“Our summer of sport will draw crowds to Adelaide, including the Christmas Test Match at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide International, 25th anniversary of the Santos Tour Down Under, and LIV Golf Adelaide in its new February timeslot.
“And of course, this leads into our world-renowned festival season including Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Festival, and WOMADelaide – which helped to drive the record-breaking month we saw in March.”
West Beach Parks Chief Executive Kate Anderson enthused “It’s great to be opening our holiday park under the Discovery Parks brand on the first day of what is expected to be a record summer season.
“Early bookings for 2025 suggest we will surpass the number of 10,095 guests staying at our park in January and February, bringing in much-needed tourism dollars to our state and local community.
“We know more South Australians, particularly families, are choosing to holiday closer to home, it’s why we are investing in our holiday park’s facilities and guest experiences and collaborating with like -minded local partners to leverage our mutual strengths.”
Discovery Parks Founder and Chief Executive Grant Wilckens added “With summer holidays kicking into gear, we’re excited to kick off our partnership as Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks, bringing together two of the most iconic tourism brands in the state.
“This partnership forms part of our long-term commitment to South Australian tourism and follows recent major investments in key tourism destinations including Wilpena Pound, Goolwa, Clare, Coffin Bay and Hahndorf.
“Backed by the combined customer reach of our brands, we have a fantastic opportunity to grow our share of the holiday market and drive further visitation into SA.”
Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks can accommodate 3000 guests across 338 caravan and tent sites, 132 self-catering cabins, six ‘glamping’ Eco Tents and an ultra-luxe three-bedroom beach house.
The holiday park’s broad range of on-site leisure facilities include a heated lagoon-style swimming pool, new $1.8 million play space, outdoor movie area with big screen, games room, billiards room, a new, licensed kiosk and an array of new guest activities for all ages.
