Parks and Leisure Australia to award excellence, advance industry recognition
The upcoming 2013 Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) National Conference will see the organisation reward industry excellence at its National Awards Gala Dinner and also release the first in a planned series of industry advocacy policies.
The first of PLA's industry advocacy policies, covering 'Open Space and Sports Grounds' , is currently being finalised, with this and a series of future documents intended to inform members and influence Governments and key industry stakeholders.
The PLA's 2013 Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner, to be held on the evening of Wednesday 16th October, is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate work being undertaken by PLA members across Australia.
Hosted by media personality, sports commentator and former AFL player Sam Kekovich and with entertainment from Eddie Perfect from Shane Warne: The Musical, the event is, according to PLA Chief Executive Mark Band "a time (to celebrate) who we are and what we do."
Awards will be presented in the following award categories:
Award for Events
Award for Inclusive and Connected Communities
Award for Leisure Facilities
Award for Open Space Development
Award for Parks
Award for Sustainable Initiatives
Planning Award
Playspace Award of Excellence
The Frank Stewart Award
With the theme 'Transforming People and Places', the PLA Conference is being held from 13th to 16th October at the Pullman Albert Park in Melbourne.
