Paradise Country welcomes Tasmanian Devils

Tasmanian Devils, Australia’s most famous carnivorous marsupials, have arrived at Paradise Country just in time for the school holidays. Paradise Country is Village Roadshow Theme Park’s Australian homestead on the Gold Coast Queensland.

The duo named Mawpaw and Magra have joined the other native Australian animals at Paradise Country in the new Tasmanian Trek habitat located in the wildlife walkthrough.

With Tasmanian Devils listed as endangered, Mawpaw and Magra will join Paradise Country’s Save A Mate Program as ambassadors for their wild counterparts and help raise awareness, funds and conservation efforts.

Paradise Country Curator of Wildlife, Deane Jones noted the Tasmanian Devils have settled well into their all new state-of-the-art habitat.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome the Tasmanian Devils to Paradise Country and we can’t wait for our guests to come face-to-face with the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world.

“The Tasmanian Trek habitat is in our wildlife walkthrough and provides guests an opportunity to experience these misunderstood animals as they forage through their outside terrain as well as in the nocturnal den environment.

“Mawpaw and Magra are very devilish and curious, and we are looking forward to watching their personalities come to life at Paradise Country.

“Tasmanian Devils can grow to 30-40 centimetres in height and can weigh up to 10 kilograms with their diet consisting of meat, fish, snakes, birds and insects.

It has been a busy month for the wildlife team at Paradise Country with the Tasmanian Devils arrival following that of a troop of Marmoset Monkeys.

The best way to see the Tasmanian Devils is with a Village Roadshow One Pass which provides unlimited access to Paradise Country, Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast for 12 months.
