Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club one many small Gold Coast businesses to receive funding
The Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club is one of more than 2,700 Gold Coast businesses to receive Queensland Government funding through the Small Business COVID-19 Adaptation Grant Program.
Queensland Treasurer Cameron Dick said the $10,000 grant would help the club better engage with its membership base, and help improve sponsorship and donation opportunities.
Treasurer Dick advised “like so many businesses here on the Gold Coast, COVID-19 has had an impact on visitor traffic to places like the surf club.
“Keeping our borders closer has allowed more Queensland businesses to open up, but for many it’s meant making changes to their focus and improve resilience.
“Better engagement with local visitors will help supplement the loss of traffic from interstate tourists.
“We know that the net cost of reduced interstate tourism to Queensland is less than $190 million per month, whereas going to Stage 4 restrictions like Victoria would cost Queensland’s economy $5.3 billion per month.
“That’s why it’s so important to Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs and maximise the opportunities for small businesses here on the Gold Coast.”
Support delivered to Gold Coast small businesses as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s Unite and Recover economic plan includes:
$24.8 million in Small Business COVID-19 Adaptation Grants to 2,772 businesses
$159.6 million in 12-month interest free loans 1,166 businesses, supporting 14,511 jobs
$37.3 million in payroll tax refunds to Gold Coast-based businesses
Treasurer Dick added “these programs are designed to complement one another to help a wider range of businesses get through the challenges of COVID.
“We know there’s more to be done and we will continue talking to business groups and companies across the Gold Coast and throughout Queensland as we work together to protect and support Queensland jobs.”
