Our top news of 2021. Part 3: July to September

Continuing our look back on Australasian Leisure Management’s most read and major news items of the year, the third quarter of 2021 was one of contrasts.

It started with a focus on the Olympics. First, with Brisbane’s bid to host the 2032 Games successfully securing the votes of the International Olympic Committee to confirm Australia’s third hosting of the Games and then with the staging of the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo.

The quarter also saw a move to mass vaccinations, ongoing lockdowns and concerns over staff being stood down without pay - sadly resulting in many leaving the industry.

On a brighter note, July also saw Australian-founded F45 Training list on the New York Stock Exchange - valued at more than US$1.5 billion!
