Otway Fly Treetop Adventures lays down the roots for a greener future
Otway Fly Treetop Adventures celebrated the recent National Tree Day by encouraging tree lovers to take a hands-on role in ensuring the future of the rainforest by planting a tree.
With their gloves and spades in hand, more than 80 grade five and six students from Colac South West Primary got their hands dirty and laid down the roots for a greener future by planting native Eucalypt tree seedlings.
Commenting on the initiative, Otway Fly Treetop Adventures General Manager Daniel Kay explained “with rainforests covering just 0.14% of Victoria’s total area, Otway Fly Treetop Adventures recognises the importance of protecting and conserving this precious ecosystem, which is home to an amazing array and diversity of flora and fauna.
“We hope that Otway Tree Week not only encourages tree lovers far and wide to reconnect with nature and do their bit for the local environment, but also raise awareness around the simple actions people can do to protect these precious ecosystems.”
All participants also pledged a conservation promise; recorded on a plastic wrap around their tree, plus receive a free Treetop Walk experience, allowing them to revisit their tree.
Located just 2.5 hours from Melbourne CBD, the award-winning Otway Fly is Victoria’s premier eco-wilderness adventure.
