Ord Valley Muster to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2021
In celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2021, some of Australia’s most talented artists including Jessica Mauboy and duo Busby Marou will be performing at the Ord Valley Muster.
The Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience on Saturday 22nd May is the highlight of the nine-day Ord Valley Muster held in Kununurra, Western Australia, from 21st to 29th May 2021 and headlining this year is one of Australia’s most successful female artists, Jessica Mauboy, who has performed for Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres and former US president Barak Obama.
Mauboy is an Indigenous singer-songwriter who first shot to fame in 2006 as runner up on Australian Idol. Mauboy’s album, HILDA debuted at Number 1 on the ARIA charts and is her most personal album to date. Having performed at the Kimberley Moon Experience in 2006, Mauboy said that she’s excited to be sharing the stage with Busby Marou.
Mauboy advises “The Moon was my first big gig after Australian Idol and it holds a very special place in my heart. I remember the fantastic crowds and the stunning country. I can’t wait to go back and play some new and old music at the 20th anniversary concert.”
Joining Mauboy is the award-winning duo Busby Marou who have supported some huge international artists including Elton John, Michael Buble and Dolly Parton and played at mega festivals including South by South West and Canadian Music Week. They sell out shows everywhere from Surry Hills to Cairns and have an incredibly loyal and diverse following.
Tom Busby’s playful onstage presence combined with Jeremy Marou’s freakish instrumental ability has cemented their reputation as one of Australia’s most loved live bands in recent times. They have released four albums, earned a string of APRA, ARIA and Deadly awards and created a completely unique vibe based on Tom’s everyman’s approach to storytelling interspersed with Jeremy’s guitar virtuosity.
Busby enthuses “we're so excited to be coming back with the band to this part of the world. Beautiful people, spectacular country, it’s always a memorable journey.”
Supporting Mauboy and Busby Marou is up and coming Indigenous singer-songwriter Emily Wurramara who was nominated for a 2018 ARIA for Best Blues and Roots Album and is a three-time Queensland Music Award winner. Her mission is to inspire and empower members of her community, especially young Indigenous women, to find their voice, and sings original music both in English and Anindilyakwa.
Alongside the Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience is the glamorous black-tie Kimberley Fine Diamonds Dinner which includes champagne, canapes, multi-course dining under the big Kimberley starry sky and exclusive dance floor to party the night away.
The State Government is a proud supporter of the event through Tourism WA's Regional Events Program.
The 20th annual Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster will be held from 21st to 29th May in Kununurra, kicking off the tourism season in Western Australia’s East Kimberley region.
