NZ Fitness Industry Awards move to November

FitnessNZ, who recently took over running the industry awards for the New Zealand fitness industry, have announced the date for the 2010 awards as Saturday 27th November 2010.

After an extensive process with the industry, it was decided to coincide the awards ceremony with next year's GetNZ Active conference.

As FitnessNZ Chief Executive Richard Beddie explains "this means that not only will we very likely have significantly more attendees at the awards, but it is much easier for those from out of town to attend, as so many people are already in Auckland for the GetNZ Active Conference."

FitnessNZ has also re-confirmed Dr Nigel Harris as head judge for 2010.

Proposed changes to the awards include a number of new categories - including a new innovation award, and categories for exercise studios.

The Awards will also offer a new online entry process (entries for individuals will be able to completed 100% online), and reduced entry cost while an increased programme of âmystery shoppingâ and audited site visits will form part of the new judging process.

FitnessNZ is inviting comments on these new ideas, with the Awards' full criteria being confirmed in early 2010.

Full details are available from the the awards web site at www.fitnessindustryawards.co.nz
