Refurbished Queensland Cricketers Club reopened at The Gabba

The comprehensive refurbishment of the Queensland Cricketers Club (QC Club) at The Gabba has been completed – with the reopened 50 year old venue reinvigorated as one of Brisbane’s major function and hospitality venues.

The new design has made the most of the Club’s space and its location overlooking the Gabba oval, while ensuring its future as a place for lovers of sport to gather and as a venue for premium dining, leisure activities and networking opportunities.

A statement advising of the reopening advises “while the Club’s offerings have expanded, the discrepancy between new memberships and seat-filling game days, and the rising operating costs has made it necessary to expand on other business aspects – in particular, private events – to ensure the Club continues to go from strength to strength.”

The design overhaul addressed the entire Club – previously separated into two rooms – transformed into one 480 metre², open-plan space. The large bar in the centre of the main room has been removed creating a dramatically more open area ensuring that members and guests will enjoy a spectacular, uninterrupted view of the stadium from everywhere inside in the Club.

The venue has a total indoor capacity of 550 sit down (more than double the previous allowance) and the option to separate the space into three smaller rooms via partitioned walls that tuck away into hidden cabinets, the new-look QC Club will also be the perfect venue for corporate and private functions of all kinds, giving event planners total flexibility.

QC Club ChIef Executive Lachlan Furnell explains “this refurbishment will bring the Club in line with our vision to see it cemented as one of Brisbane’s most unique and iconic event destinations, as well as a great place for members and friends to catch up and see a game, as always – ensuring the Club continues to thrive.”

Work on the project commenced on 21st January and was completed just in time for the Brisbane Lions AFL season.

The renovation and interior design was executed by Intermain Pty Ltd.
