NSW taekwondo instructor accused of triple murder considering response to charges

A taekwondo instructor is accused of killing a couple and a child during a horrific triple murder in western Sydney earlier this year is reported to be considering his response to NSW Police allegations against him.

Kwang Kyung Yoo, aged 50, was earlier this year charged with the murders of Min Cho, aged 41, and a seven-year-old child at the Lion’s Taekwondo Martial Arts Academy in North Parramatta, as well as the woman’s husband, Steven Cho, aged 39, in nearby Baulkham Hills.

It’s alleged that Ms Cho and the child were murdered inside the taekwondo studio where the boy was a student on 20th February.

NSW Police allege that Yoo, who was known to his students as Master Lion, left the bodies inside the studio before driving Ms Cho’s white BMW to her Baulkham Hills house, where Mr Cho was stabbed several times.

Yoo has been in custody on remand since his arrest in hospital since the incident and has not yet entered a plea.

Last month Parramatta Local Court was told that a case conference would be held on 21st October.

The purpose of a case conference is to help determine an accused person’s plea and to identify any disputed facts and can result in plea offers being made by either side.

NSW Police allege that Yoo drove to Westmead Hospital with stab wounds to his chest, arms and stomach and claimed he was randomly attacked in a supermarket carpark. NSW Police also allege he sustained the injuries while stabbing Cho to death.

The matter will return to Court later this month.
