NSW music festivals get recognition at Australian Tourism Awards
Under pressure from new licensing regulations, music festivals in NSW have been able to celebrate their contribution to the tourism industry with recognition at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
Presented in Tasmania on Friday night, Byron Bay’s Splendour In The Grass and Parkes’ Elvis Festival both won medals at the Awards.
Splendour won bronze in the Major Festivals and Events category, while the Parkes Elvis Festival also took Bronze in the Festivals and Events category.
Gold went to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers in Queensland in the Major Festivals and Events category and silver to Formula 2018 Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo took gold and Perth’s CinefestOZ brought home silver in the Festivals and Events category.
Splendour attracted 35,000 attendees a day over three days while Parkes drew 27,000 this year.
