Noarlunga Leisure Centre marks health club's first anniversary
The health club within the Noarlunga Leisure Centre in South Australia has recently celebrated its first anniversary.
The club, part of a vibrant aquatic and recreation centre catering for Adelaide’s southern suburbs, offers a wide range of fitness equipment, including the latest Nautilus cardio equipment, and group fitness programs.
However, a range of initiatives for older adults offered by the Centre’s health club has established a significant point of difference from many other facilities.
Its Over 50's Dry and Aqua Fitness Classes, facilitated by the Centre’s manager, Belgravia Leisure in conjunction with the City of Onkaparinga, aims to provide high quality health and fitness classes that increase participants social interaction, enhance independence, increase mobility and provide general feeling of well-being.
The Centre offers an affordable and accessible range of over 50s ‘wet and dry’ classes, ranging in intensity from high-medium impact circuits to low impact ‘work at your own pace’ activities with chair based exercises.
Dry fitness classes include stretching, flexability and mild strengthing aerobic exercises while aqua finess classes are conducted in the Centre’s heated pool and include simple mobility and stretching exercises with mild aerobic activities.
The Centre has also linked with COTA Australia (the peak national organisation representing the rights, needs and interests of older Australians) to be part of the Strength 4 Life 50+initiative, aimed at enabling over 50s access to regulated, supervised strength training in a typical fitness setting.
As an accredited Strength 4 Life partner the facility provides supervised strength training sessions three times a week.
