Newcastle’s The Forum launches first Technogym SKILLATHLETIC training facility in Australia

The Gym at The Forum on the campus of the University of Newcastle has become the first venue in Australia to install Technogym’s SKILLATHLETIC training facility.

Launched in mid-February, the SKILLATHLETIC training facility is part of the popular facility’s offering in a new gym floor layout, including a large functional training zone, for members.

The Forum University closed between 29th January and 17th February for an upgrade that included the addition of the latest in cardio equipment from Technogym and new strength equipment from Life Fitness along with new flooring throughout the existing gym and cardio areas.

Roxana Olivares, Director Programs at The Forum advised “we have a commitment to give back to our members and continue to provide quality facilities.

“This is an exciting time as we upgrade our gym at The Forum University to the latest in fitness equipment and technology while we continue to provide a fresh and contemporary facility.”

SKILLATHLETIC TRAINING is the new training experience developed by Technogym thanks to its long-standing experience as official supplier to the last seven editions of the Olympic Games and its collaboration with the best teams and sports champions around the world.

The method, developed by Technogym’s Scientific Research with the help of top coaches and sports trainers, aims at improving athletic performance and offers a wide range of workouts based on the four SKILLATHLETIC TRAINING key abilities, Power, Agility, Speed, Stamina, that can be performed at different scales of difficulty allowing people with varied levels of physical preparation to participate in the same training class.

Every day participants can choose from five different types of classes and experience each time a new mix of exercises inspired by the four key abilities of the method. The Forum has launched this program with 19 classes per week.

SKILLATHLETIC defines a new workout category inspired by passion for sport and is dedicated to all those looking to challenge their limits and improve their performance: runners, triathletes, cyclists and enthusiasts of various sporting disciplines.

SKILLATHLETIC develops and improves workout abilities in complete safety and sharpens the basic abilities needed in all sports. Key elements of the new SKILLATHLETIC training are the SKILL LINE products, Technogym’s line dedicated to sports performance.

During the closure, members were able to use The Forum Harbourside at no additional cost.

The Forum Harbourside underwent a large upgrade in November 2017.
