New Year sees Adelaide Convention Centre leadership change

Simon Burgess has stepped into the role of General Manager at the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) moving up from his previous role as Director - Convention and Exhibition Sales.

In the wake of the completion of the ACC’s redevelopment, Burgess replaces Alec Gilbert who finished his tenure on high at the end of last year with the International Astronautical Congress, the largest international conference held in Adelaide to date.

Welcoming his new appointment, Burgess stated “it’s an exciting time for Adelaide.

“We have a great legacy in terms of our new facilities from our recent expansion; this combined with the continued rejuvenation of the Adelaide Riverbank means the city is well-poised to be an even more attractive business events destination moving forward.”

Changes at the ACC have also seen team member Erryn Dryga promoted from a business development position to the role of Senior Sales Manager – Conventions and Exhibitions.

The promotion follows her critical role in developing key industry relationships resulting in increased national conference business over the past five years.

In her new role, Dryga will be responsible for driving Asia Pacific and other international conference business in to Adelaide, as well as leading the company’s convention and exhibition sales team as they work to further build national business levels to match the ACC’s expanded capacity.

The momentum is set to continue this year with another busy calendar.

In the coming months, the ACC will welcome three of the event industry’s most prestigious national events: the Australian Tourism Exchange (15th to 19th April); the Accelerate 2018 MEA National Conference (6th to 8th May); and the AuSAE Conference and Exhibition (ACE) 2018 – Ignite your Thinking (28th to 30th May).
