Santorini Water Fantasy opens in Thailand

Santorini Water Fantasy, the new waterpark add-on to Thailand’s existing Santorini theme park, recently held a high-profile opening – attended by leading Thai entertainers and rock bands.

Located just south of the Thai capital of Bangkok, the US$3.25 million (100 million THB) waterpark  has already attracted increased numbers of guests to the area, which already drew up to 10,000 visitors a day before the waterpark opened.

Owned by Supoj Tantichirasakul, Chairman of Pena House Public Co. Ltd., the attractions are being developed to transform the region into what Tantichirasakul calls a new "Gold Coast", similar to Australia's Gold Coast.

Tantichirasakul explains "Santorini Water Fantasy is a thrilling new addition to our plan for enriching the tourism in this area.

"We've already seen the excitement the new park offers to guests and have no doubt it will impact the entire region in a very positive manner."

Aquatic attractions in the Santorini Water Fantasy waterpark include a mix of rides designed by Polin Waterparks – with 12 aquatic play areas able to accommodate up to 3,500 guests.

The waterpark's main attraction is its King Cobra waterslide.

Featuring bold red, black and white scales, the King Cobra's impressive veneer extends along its massive 15 metre height and 79 metre with two riders able to race along a circular path of twists, turns and surprises.

Reaching speeds of over 50 kilometres per hour via water pressure of 14,668 litre per minute through open and closed tubes. The ride ends just after they endure a heart-pounding plunge of nearly 8 metre down a 50-degree slope.

Other rides that Polin designed and installed at the new waterpark include:

Looping Rocket. This high-adrenaline ride offers one of the highest drops riders can experience. The ride features Polin's exclusive ‘Magic Shine’ technology in translucent colours.

Space Shuttle. This waterslide features an innovative design configuration, form and ride path. Fully open, fully enclosed and half-closed versions are available. Configuration options include exit via a pool or a run-out.

Windigo. Riders on mats begin this attraction within enclosed slides that transform into high-speed multi-racer lanes. It offers the flexibility of including ‘Kamikaze’ or ‘Freefall’ options, and its high-capacity capability will keep lines moving.

Other rides include Polin's Freefall, Aquatube, Rafting Slide, Black Hole, Kids Freefall, Space Hole, Kids Octopus Slide, Mini Pirate Slide, Turtle Slide, Rabbit Slide, Mini Rainbow Slide, Giraffe Shower, Mushroom, Aquatower Type 600 which is a very popular water play structure, Frog Slide, Baby Octopus Slide.
