New website promotes Great Trails Victoria
Tourism Victoria has launched the Victoria's Trails Strategy 2014-2024 and a new website to showcase Victoria's off-road walking, cycling and mountain biking trails.
The Great Trails Victoria website has been purpose-built with high-quality data and content including interactive mapping, GPS data files for download, highly detailed journey guides, suggested itineraries and inspirational images and trail descriptions.
Commenting on the initiative, Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Louise Asher stated "Victoria has more than 2,000 trails that showcase our natural assets.
"The Great Trails Victoria website provides an invaluable platform for promoting our State's trails to local, national and international audiences and reinforces Victoria's position as a leader in nature and adventure-based tourism."
Initially showcasing 15 of Victoria's top trail destinations, the website has been purpose-built with high-quality data and content including interactive mapping, GPS data files for download, highly detailed journey guides, suggested itineraries and inspirational images and trail descriptions.
The development of the new website and Victoria's Trails Strategy 2014-2024 was led by the Victorian Trails Coordinating Committee, chaired by the former Member for Eastern Victoria Region Philip Davis.
Davis said the website launch represented a key milestone in the implementation of the strategy, adding "the website gives people the information they need to maximise their enjoyment of the State's nature trails, which will in turn enhance our trails as valuable social and recreation hubs that generate tourism, business and employment opportunities.
