New Treetops Adventure attraction opens at Sydney’s St Ives Showgrounds

Australia’s newest Treetops Adventure ropes course attraction has opened at St Ives Showgrounds in Sydney’s north.

Located on the southern border of the Ku-ring-gai National Park, the new adventure attraction features 95 aerial obstacles, 10 zip lines and eight high ropes courses, all suspended between platforms to create a maze of activities in the treetops.

Opened on 14th November as Sydney emerged from its Coronavirus lockdown, the new attraction complements a new playground added to the site at the end of 2020.

Acquired by Experience Co in a $46.9 million deal last month Treetops Adventure is the new brand for adventure tourism attractions that previously operated as Tree Adventure and TreeTops.

Experience Co advise that the brand’s new ‘tree and arrow’ logo is “about going onwards and upwards amongst the treetops”.

The exhilarating adventures are geared towards children aged three and up, as well as adults, who aren't afraid to scale to new adventurous heights while safely secured to cables that'll allow guests to navigate their way around the courses.

It features over one kilometre of cables to host the aerial activities, including ziplining, tight ropes, flying foxes, obstacle courses and more.

COVIDSafe practices will allow only 180 participants on the course at one point to ensure social distancing. Each session will run for up to 2.5-hours.

Like other Treetops Adventure parks, the new high ropes course at St Ives will require participants to be independently mobile without physical assistance.

Welcoming the opening, Ku-ring-gai Council Mayor, Jennifer Anderson said the high ropes adventure course was the latest in a series of new initiatives for the Showground, commenting “families have been enthralled by the new regional playground and this latest attraction will make the Showground a great day out for everyone.”

Speaking about the market for the Treetops Adventure product, Experience Co Chief Executive, John O’ Sullivan advised at the end of September “(the) younger audience are the skydivers of tomorrow.

“We want to capture their interest in adventure experiences from an early age and introduce them to the other opportunities that Experience Co can offer.”
