New Thai waterpark to feature latest WhiteWater innovations
The new Vana Nava Water Jungle waterpark in the Thai resort of Hua Hin aims to set itself apart from competing attractions with its rainforest-inspired theme, positioning itself as an ‘ecologically aware’ destination.
Set to open in October, the jungle-themed waterpark will feature 19 rides and attractions supplied by Canadian-based waterpark experts Whitewater West with a total of 800 metres of water slides.
Highlights include Thailand’s first Abyss slide, a surf shack with a surf simulator, a 1,600 metre2 wave pool, a multi-level aqua course, a 345 metres lazy river and an events plaza. Other facilities include an open-air concert venue, F&B outlets, massage pavilions, souvenir shops and lounges.
Developed by Thailand’s Proud Real Estate (PRE), the attraction will cater for families and tourist but will also be available for use as as a corporate teambuilding and events venue, with the Tree Top Lounge and VIP Event and Meeting rooms available for private rental.
The US$30.7 million project, which marks PRE’s entry into the water park and attractions market is sited in Hua Hin city centre near InterContinental Hua Hin Resort and Cicada Market.
The opening comes in a significant year for waterparks in Thailand with the Santorini Water Fantasy waterpark having opened in April and the Cartoon Network Amazone water park due to open in July in Pattaya.
PRE Director of Sales and Marketing Usa Boonchalakulkosol explains “we decided to open a waterpark in Hua Hin because the attractions are not diverse enough in this leisure destination.” said Usa Boonchalakulkosol, director of sales and marketing at Vana Hua Hin.
Commenting on WhiteWater’s input, WhiteWater West Marketing Coordinator Megan Krentz explained “Vana Nava is one of our most exciting projects as it has a very interesting mix of both water attractions, like water slides and interactive water play structures, and dry attractions like rope courses and climbing walls.
“It’s a very balanced waterpark with a nearly-even mix of water slides and interactive elements which will appeal to a wide demographic.”
The park has been planned by A49 Design Group, with landscaping by Belt Collins. Construction is being undertaken by Sino-Thai.
Living up to ecologically aware claims, the attraction aims to be environmentally responsible and energy efficient, using water recycling and a careful selection of flora.
