New Swimplex Aquatics installed Polin Waterslide opens in South Australia
Swimplex Aquatics have recently delivered a turnkey waterslide in the City of Marion, South Australia.
With the former 'hand me down’ waterslide at the Marion Outdoor Swimming Centre in need of major repairs, the Council moved to update the facility with an impressive Polin Waterparks slide installed by Swimplex Aquatics.
The Polin body slide has been installed in the City of Marion's corporate colours with an extra platform to allow for future expansion.
The waterslide has been manufactured in state-of-the-art RTM fibreglass slide incorporating Polin's signature feature ‘Light Effects’ - adding excitement for the young people of Marion. The top half of the 77 metre long slide is a 1200mm enclosed tube which then opens out to a fast 1000mm open section. It also features a 10 metre long run out.
Another feature of the installation is that the path and tower are fully lit with LED lighting to allow extended hours of use of the slide during the warmer months.
During the build the Swimplex team were exposed to not only to Adelaide’s coldest spring day on record but they also faced the city’s hottest three day spring run with temperatures up to 42 degrees!
The recent opening event for the slide was an event attended by thousands of people, with the community taking to social media to enthusiastically support this new community asset.
Overseeing the installation on behalf of the City of Marion council was John Goldfinch of FMG Engineering.
Commenting on the project, Goldfinch stated “as structural and aquatics engineer assisting the City of Marion (in putting) the new waterslide out to tender and in performing inspections of the plant, equipment and build quality during the course of construction, I am delighted to report that the whole exercise was a particularly seamless installation performed to extremely tight timelines.
“I was impressed with the obliging approach and attitude of Swimplex’s installation team which allowed the job to proceed without holdups and to meet the tight timeframe.
“No task was too much to ask of the Swimplex team.
“All in all (it was) a very pleasant experience.”
Swimplex Water Attractions Manager Daniel Leaver added “we are very proud of this project which has given the people of South Australia another great community asset.
“The council were enthusiastic and realistic and the whole project went off without a hitch. “Swimplex bring some unique skills and resources to these jobs which allow us to deliver a truly turnkey package.
“We have some exciting times ahead for this side of our business”
