New Skills Australia Paper
Skills Australia has released Foundations for the Future, a position paper for consultation containing proposals for a new governance framework for the National Training System.
The paper proposes a more streamlined and integrated governance model for the tertiary sector to better respond to Australia's skill needs in a rapidly changing global context.
The position paper identifies six underpinning functions of the National Training System's future governance and architecture and Skills Australia proposed these as the framework on which a more cohesive and streamlined system can be established. The functions are:
⢠Leading a unified vision for skills to support a national economy
⢠Providing strategic advice and the evidence for reform
⢠Investing wisely and effectively in skills and workforce development
⢠Regulating and ensuring quality services and products
⢠Using information to inform decision making, quality and client choice
⢠Providing training services that meet needs
Submissions in response to the paper are invited from all interested parties.
These views will then be used to inform Skills Australiaâs advice and recommendations to the Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
Submissions are open until 12th May 2009.
Submissions can be mailed to Submissions - Skills Australia, GPO Box 9880, Canberra City, ACT 2601.
