New removable pump track for Mildura’s Nowingi Place playground

Mildura Rural City Council has advised of work starting on a new 55-metre pump track in the latest suite of upgrades to the popular Nowingi Place playground area.

The pump track is designed to be removable, meaning in the event of larger Murray River flood events it can taken out and put back in again if needed.

Councillor for Sports and Recreation Glenn Milne said the pump track would be yet another drawcard for families and visitors to the riverfront precinct.

Milne advised “this end of our riverfront precinct is already a hive of activity with the Water Play Park, walking tracks, café and Nowingi Place playground.

“The addition of the pump track will further activate this area, particularly for families with young children.”

Bobby & Me café owner Robbie Neville welcomed the addition of the pump track, just metres from his successful business adding “It’s going to be a great addition to the precinct, and from a business perspective it’s going to be well used and really drive more visitors to this end of the riverfront.”

Milne said the pump track was expected to be completed within the next two weeks and be free to use and advised the track was among several upgrades to the Nowingi Place end of the riverfront precinct in the past six months.

Other additions include additional walking paths to improve connectivity and access between Bobby & Me and the Water Play Park and new shade sails in the playground area. A rock-lined sandpit has also been established in the playground as well as replacement of equipment to the existing playground.

“Each section of our riverfront precinct has its own identity, offering a plethora of options for locals and visitors alike,” added Milne.

“They complement each other beautifully, and the addition of the pump track will further add to this section of our riverfront’s unique identity.”
