New Plymouth to host Eventing the Future conference

Based on a commitment by the conference organisers to rotate Eventing the Future between regional centres and major cities, the 2017 National Conference for New Zealand Event Professionals is to be hosted in New Plymouth.

Being at New Plymouth’s TSB Showplace on 2nd and 3rd August, with pre conference workshops on 1st August, Eventing the Future 2017 has announced a partnership with AudienceA!ive, presentation design and audience engagement specialists that will allow a greater level of engagement and interactivity throughout key sessions and the Conference’s keynote speakers.

In an exciting new initiative for ETF, Audience A!ive will use tools and techniques to make sessions more interactive.

Topics to be explored at this year’s conference include:

• The latest event trends and how to be ahead of the game
• The role of events in increasing amazing and engaging spaces
• Event controls and the role of the 'fun police'
• Showcase of some of New Zealand's ‘weird, wacky and wonderful’ events
• Emerging tools for the event sector
• Audience engagement techniques.

The conference’s first international keynote speaker has been announced as Peter Kageyama, a popular Ted talks speaker and author of For the Love of Cities a top ten best seller on urban planning and design.

He was the opening keynote speaker at the International Festival & Events Association (IFEA) Convention in 2016 and is an internationally sought after specialist in ground-up development through partnership with the amazing people who are making change happen in our cities throughout the world.

In his spare time he is an avid Lord of the Rings fan and therefore a lover of New Zealand’s great landscapes.

His workshop will describe how best to engage our special amazing people whom he calls ‘anchor personas’ and grow partnerships with ‘co-creators’ in our events, with the outcome of creating emotionally engaging places that people love to live in.

Boasting iconic events with unique event venues, New Plymouth is a significant contributor to New Zealand’s event profile. WOMAD, TSB Bank Festival of Lights, The NZ Tattoo and Art Festival, Americarna, all shape our prolific event calendar.

Adding to its appeal, travel bible Lonely Planet recently voted Taranaki 'the second best region in the world to visit in 2017'. Taranaki has an unique natural environment, a wide range of activities, cultural and natural attraction such as:

• The renowned Govett Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre
• The TSB Bowl of Brooklands
• Pukekura Park - A Garden of National Significance
• Puke Ariki - New Plymouth’s Waterfront Museum
• Yarrow Stadium - 2016 EVANZ Ticketek Large Venue of the Year Award
• The Forgotten World Highway - an abandoned rail route through magnificent scenery, explored by rail cart or rail bike
• Mount Taranaki - A variety of walks, including the Pouakai Crossing.
